The 2022 Arlington softball team's home debut went unsuccessfully Thursday at the Two Rivers Sports Complex.
The Eagles would finish a tourney second Saturday in West Point, but, first, they lost a 13-2 home game on their own diamond. The Cardinals scored six first-inning runs, led 10-0 after 2.5 innings and won by 11.
AHS, meanwhile, scored a run apiece during the third and fifth frames. First, senior Cadie Robinson hit into a groundout to score Emery McIntosh, who singled to reach the base path.
Then, during the fifth inning, Britt Nielsen doubled before McIntosh plated her.

Coach Janelle Lorsch's team improved to 5-3 overall Saturday in West Point, though. The Eagles went 2-1 during GACC's home invite, claiming second to Class C No. 2 Wahoo Neumann.
AHS started tourney play by grinding out a 2-1 win against Ponca. Pitcher Kiersten Taylor threw all six innings to pick up the win, while Rylee Fuehrer tallied the game-winning RBI with the bases loaded in the final inning.
Next, the Eagles scored a 4-0 lead against South Sioux City before winning by nine runs, 13-4. A four-run sixth inning all but closed out the semifinals win.
Sydney Magnino plated AHS' first run during the opening frame before hitting a 2-run homer in the sixth, too.
Robinson hit an RBI double in first inning to tie the championship game against Neumann, but the Cavaliers won 13-3 in five innings. The Eagles scored twice during the bottom of the fourth frame to pull within 8-3, but the second-ranked team in Class C scored five times in the top of the fifth to reclaim clear control on the scoreboard.
