DISTRICT GOLF UPDATE: BHS senior qualifies for 4th state tourney

Blair senior Mallory Stirek finished with 85 strokes Monday during the Class B-2 District Golf Tournament, earning a fourth-straight NSAA State Championships berth.
The Class B state tournament starts 9 a.m. Oct. 10 at Monument Shadows Golf Course in Gering. The second-day of the two-day tourney starts at 9 on Oct. 11, too.
Stirek finished fifth overall, finishing 11 swings behind first-place Julia Karmazin of Elkhorn North. Omaha Duchesne, Elkhorn North and Bennington qualified for state with top three team finishes across 18 holes.
Blair, meanwhile, was sixth overall. Coach Ross Udey’s Bears finished with 426 swings.
Stirek led the team, Lillian Tiedgen shot a 111, and Mackenzie Storjohann and Carrie Truhlsen carded 115 swings apiece. Addie Stirek shot a 121, too.
