Denker, Wendt claim all-state baseball honors

State newspapers recognize 11 county athletes overall

The Omaha World-Herald and Lincoln Journal Star newspapers released their all-state teams over the weekend with 11 Washington County athletes securing recognition.
Among the honorees were first-team all-staters Trevor Denker of Arlington and Blair's Shea Wendt. Denker earned Class C honors from both state publications as an outfielder. He hit at a .500 average during his senior season and had 28 hits, two homers and 17 RBIs.
Wendt, meanwhile, was a first team Class B utility baseball player according to the Journal Star, while also claiming World-Herald honorable mention. The future Creighton Bluejay hit .338 this past season with four home runs and 21 RBIs. He made seven pitching appearances, too, finishing with a 2.25 ERA and 54 strikeouts.
In addition to the first-team honorees, the Bears' Tanner Jacobson, Greyson Kay and J'Shawn Unger were noted by the Journal Star as honorable mention recipients. Kaden Sears claimed honorable mention from the World-Herald, too.
Arlington's Kaden Pittman, Braden Monke, Killian McIntosh and Tyler Ott were Class C honorable mention award winners from both newspapers, while Fort Calhoun's Chase Premer and Carter Christensen took home the same honor from the World-Herald.
