DC West boys beat Fort Calhoun by 24

The Douglas County West boys basketball team beat Fort Calhoun on Friday night, 63-39.
The Pioneers trailed just 11-10 after one period, but lost the second quarter 22-5 with Travis Skelton and Wyatt Appel scoring the lone FCHS buckets. Ryker Wohlers led the host Falcons with 14 points for the game, while Grayson Bouwman scored 16 points for coach TJ O'Connor's squad.
Austin Welchert totaled seven points for FCHS, too, while Skelton added six as the Pioneers dropped to 2-2 this season.
The Falcons, meanwhile, improved to 2-1 with the win.
The game was delayed with 5:13 left in the fourth period when medical attention was required for a DC West player involved in a collision at mid-court. After a long break, the teams went through warmups before completing the rest of the Falcons' home win.
Fort Calhoun next hosts Yutan 7:30 p.m. today.
