Dale Howard Smith, age 73 of Blair, passed away on Jan. 31, 2024 at his home. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2024 at 11 a.m. at Campbell Aman Funeral Home in Blair. Visitation will be held Monday, Feb. 5 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Dale was born Oct. 8, 1950, in Decatur, Neb., the son of James Lawrence and Phyllis Elaine (Phelps) Smith. Dale was raised on a farm in Decatur, the oldest of five brothers. He graduated from Decatur High School and then attended College for a year at Wayne State. Dale earned his union card and then started his career at M&S Grading before working for McArdle Grading Company as a foreman until his retirement. Dale loved playing euchre, poker and pinochle with his friends and family.
Dale is survived by his wife Janet of Blair; sons: Brian (Alison) Smith, Jayme Smith, and Randy (Alisa) Smith; stepdaughters Jennifer (Mike) Christensen and Sandra (Travis) Trujello; 11 grandchildren, one great grandson; brothers: Calvin (Susie) Smith and Roger Smith; sister-in-law Peggy Smith; along with nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Keith Smith and Ted Smith; and grandson Lawrence Chesson.
