St. Paul's Lutheran School cowboy Trevor Cruikshank topped his first run with his second Friday during the 10th performance of the National Junior High Finals Rodeo (NJHFR) in Des Moines, Iowa.
After stopping the clock at 13.33 seconds with his first goat-tying attempt on June 23, the Team Iowa cowboy put together a 12.8-second run days later. He was ninth out of 24 competitors Friday and 51st in the second go-round after also earning 51st out of 133 cowboys in the first.
Altogether, Cruikshank finished 37th out of 154 national qualifiers in the average. In 2024, the cowboy finished 74th.
Three Washington County cowgirls will next compete during the National High School Finals Rodeo on July 13-19 in Rock Springs, Wyo. They are Laney Hoier of Herman, Arlington's Hailey O'Daniel and Cruikshank's sister — Alexa Cruikshank.
