The Fort Calhoun Junior Legion baseball team prolonged its season Saturday during an Area 2 Tournament elimination game in Plattsmouth.
Facing Omaha Roncalli, Zig Drywall Post 348 pitcher Titus Parys threw a complete game, beating the Pride by a 3-1 score. As a result, Calhoun continued on with postseason play Sunday with scores set for publication in Friday's Washington County Enterprise.
Post 348 broke its 1-1 tie with Roncalli, however, during the bottom of the fifth inning. Aiden Johnson first reached base on an error before Presley Olberding's single.
Quentin Billesbach stepped into the batter's box next for Calhoun, plating the go-ahead run by sacrifice. Olberding then added to the 2-1 lead by scoring on a wild pitch.
Parys and his defense held the advantage from there.

Zig drops opener
A day earlier, Zig Drywall opened Area Tournament play against top-seeded Blair, falling 12-4 in six innings. It was a run-rule loss, but not one Calhoun was out of until the bottom of the sixth inning.
Coach Zach Ryan's team scored runs during the first, third, fourth and fifth frames, keeping Post 154 within three or four runs the majority of the game.
Calhoun scored its first run when Olberding led the postseason game off with a single and reached home plate on a Blair miscue. Post 348 led only briefly, but again pulled within three runs during the top of the sixth when Hunter Bierman scored on a contact swing by Rocco Ruma.
Zig Drywall didn't get another chance to pull any closer during a seventh frame, though, after Post 154 put the game away with a five-run bottom half.
