The Fort Calhoun High School golf team finished second out of three teams to open the season Thursday at River Wilds Golf Club.
Tekamah-Herman won the triangular with 167 strokes, while the Pioneers totaled 209 and Lyons-Decatur Northeast tallied 253.
“Rough day for us, but the weather was nice,” FCHS coach Dustin Humphrey said.
Adam Elofson and Caden Newman tied for the Pioneers' low score, finishing with 49 swings apiece on hole Nos. 10-18. It was the fifth-best total of the nine-hole outing behind four Tigers — Brody Rogers (34 strokes), Blayne Williams (42), Griffin Breckenridge (44) and Brody Haag (47).
Calhoun's Beau Ruma added 55 strokes and Korbin Klein had 56. Tysen Sunderman added 64 swings in the varsity lineup as well.
Additionally, Aiden Husk shot the Pioneers' junior varsity low. He finished with 59 strokes, while Jackson Fuhrman and Aaron Melville carded 66 each. Will Duros shot a nine-hole 70 and Tucker Hanford finished with 77 swings, too.
FCHS next hosts Ashland-Greenwood and Wahoo today at 3 p.m. for another triangular before Wednesday's 10 a.m. Douglas County West Invitational at The Pines Country Club in Valley.
