Pioneers close out home schedule with win
Trailing 32-23 at halftime, the Fort Calhoun boys basketball team rallied during the second half of their final home game Friday night.
Coach TJ O'Connor's Pioneers outscored North Bend Central 23-12 during the third period and won, 56-51. They improved to 12-10 overall going into the Class C1-6 Subdistrict Tournament, while the Tigers dropped to 12-11.
Kade Foy led FCHS, which was scheduled to start postseason play Monday against Logan View/Scribner-Snyder in West Point, with 17 points during the win. The guard had three 3-pointers and was 6-for-6 from the foul line.
Travis Skelton added 10 points against NBC, too, while Colby Bentley scored nine. Their team would play West Point-Beemer at 6 p.m. today if it beat the Raiders on Monday.

Bears close regular season with loss
The Elkhorn boys basketball team scored seven more points during the third period than it did during the entire first half Friday evening.
The 23-point quarter flipped a 24-16 deficit against Blair into a 39-38 lead.The Antlers then built upon it during the fourth, earning a 55-47 home win against the Bears. Coach Chris Whitwer's BHS team dropped to 10-12 with the regular-season-ending loss.
Kalan Steinbeck led Blair in defeat, though, scoring 16 points. Bo Meier had 13, too, but it wasn't enough to overcome Elkhorn's second-half production.
Next, the Bears' Class B-4 Subdistrict Tournament run starts Wednesday. The location and opponent was not officially announced as of press time.

No. 3 Concordia routs Arlington
Class C1 No. 3 Omaha Concordia knocked down 15 3-pointers Friday, spoiling the Arlington Eagles home finale, 81-43.
Drew Kulus led the Mustangs' onslaught from beyond the arc, hitting three during the first period and finishing with a game-high 24 points. Jackson Shepherd (14 points), Cole Cheatham (11) and Logan Hermann (10) scored in double figures, too, as Concordia completed its season-long sweep of all three Washington County high schools.
Oliver Ladehoff, meanwhile, led the Eagles in defeat with 14 points. Trent Koger scored nine and Jack Morgan had eight points, too.
AHS next competes 7 p.m. today against Albion Boone Central during the Class C1-4 Subdistrict Tournament. All tourney games are set to be played on Concordia's home floor in Omaha.
