Two Blair youth football teams played Metro Youth Football League (MYFL) championship games Saturday at Ellkhorn High School.
Both teams were successful.
The fourth-grade purple Bears won the Metro Division title first, beating the Lewis Central Jr. Titans 28-8 on the turf field. The seventh-grade Bears then topped the Elkhorn Athletic Association Jr. Antlers Red squad for their own Metro Division championship, 24-0.
The seventh-grade Bears went 9-0 against MYFL opposition this season, claiming six shutout victories. The team was coached by Josh Grabbe, Michael Japp, Jeremy Jones, James Kruse and Ben Westerfield. The championship players are, according to a roster in the EHS press box, Oliver Westerfield, Grady Grabbe, Blake Williams, Gavin Jones, Coen Dresden, Marlee Cosentino, Kavian Almond, Alex Munger, Colt Stolz, Emmet Rosterman, Mason Gubbels, Beckham Hiles, Easton Kruse, Javon Chudomelka, Grayden Japp and Will Lierman.
The Blair fourth-graders, meanwhile, went 9-0 this fall with six shutouts, too. They were coached by Ben Deutshman, Craig Gubbels, Jon Huckins, Kevin Reardon and Eric Beaty. The championship players are Brody Deutschman, Kyler Reardon, Nolan Delgado, Calvin Huckins, Reiland Mullally, Bayler Marcano, Charles Ternus, Eli Thallas, Finley Thallas, Brycen Fife, Braydon Murphy, Wade Kessler, Clay Kwapnioski, Layne Masters, Braxson Beaty, Colin Gubbels, Owen Shotwell, Kalon Milles, Dean Kuhl, Cayson Neill and Jayden Maslowsky.
