The Blair High School tennis team improved its season dual record to 1-1 Thursday at Stemmermann Park.
After a loss to Platteview to start the spring, coach David Christensen's Bears bounced back with a 3-2 victory against Omaha Gross. BHS next looks to improve to 2-1 at 4 p.m. today when it hosts South Sioux City.
Against the Cougars, though, Blair went 2-1 in doubles play and 1-1 in singles to pick up the varsity win. The No. 1 team of Ally Sullivan and Abby Leggott earned an 8-3 victory, while Kayleia Chesson and Jo Inget battled for an 8-6 win at No. 2 doubles.
The Bears' Angela Roehrs, meanwhile, earned her second-straight singles victory Thursday. After besting a Trojan days earlier, she beat Gross' No. 2 player 8-4.
In other varsity matches, BHS senior Hadyn Ferguson dropped a close, 8-6 match at No. 1 singles. The No. 3 doubles team of Lissy Spangler and Hannah Heuton lost by the same score to a pair of Cougars.
Ferguson and Roehrs, however, did win an unscored doubles match Thursday. Sullivan, Chesson, Josie Kros and Heuton won singles matches during the dual as well.
