The weekend's Senior Legion baseball games against West Point didn't happen for coach James Bilslend's Post 154 ballclub.
Blair's opposition didn't have enough players for the two-game swing after it's Junior Legion squad qualified for state, the coach said. So, instead, his team closes the regular season 17-15 overall. It's gone just 2-7 in July with wins against ETC Knights Black and Plattsmouth.
An Elkhorn ETC squad is in Blair today for the start of the Class B Area 3 Tournament at Vets Field. Post 154 hosts the Knights, but also Arlington, Fort Calhoun, Omaha Concordia, Omaha Roncalli and Waterloo-Valley for the event.
Tourney competition continues through July 23, but the official matchups and start times were unavailable as of press time. The Area 3 champion will advance onto the Class B State Tournament, which is Aug. 2-6.
