With postseason tournaments a little more than a week away, Blair Little League (BLL) baseball players, coaches and parents gathered at the Youth Sports Complex on Thursday for All-Star Night.
“The season is moving really quick, but the kids are excited,” said Nick Swaney, BLL President.
Players from both the Minor and Major Divisions competed in all-star games during the night out at Wederquist and The Healthy Human Fields, but also in various skills challenges.
“We want the kids to have some fun,” Swaney noted after setting up orange cones on one field for a timed challenge. The ballplayers went on to work through a running relay and “fastest man” race, but also in a throwing relay race and home run derby.
“We're just trying to celebrate our players and show them off a little bit — what skills they have,” the president said.
Next up, Blair Little League will host its double-elimination postseason tournaments at the Youth Sports Complex. Games start next Monday, continue on June 17, 19 and 23, and conclude with championship matchups June 24.
Blair All-Star teams will then start state tournament play July 11 in Kearney. Competition continues through July 13 before the concluding games go from July 18-20.
BLL has hosted Minors and Majors play this spring and summer, but also T-Ball, Rookies and Coach Pitch divisions of play. Multiple fields at the Youth Sports Complex hosted play for those younger divisions of play on Thursday, too.
