The top-seeded Blair Junior Legion baseball team started the Class B Area 2 Tournament in Plattsmouth with back-to-back victories Friday and Saturday.
Play continued Sunday and into the beginning of the week with results set to be published in Friday's Washington County Enterprise edition.
Last Friday, though, the Post 154 Juniors kicked off the Area 2 Tourney with a 12-4, run-rule victory against Fort Calhoun on the Blue Devils' diamond. Post 348 stayed within striking distance for 5.5 innings, but Post 154 put the game away with a five-run bottom of the sixth.
Ahead 7-4, Blair's Ike Petersen, Easton Kosch and Colin Jacobitz loaded the bases. Grady Grabbe ran for Petersen and scored when Jaxon Logan drew a bases-loaded walk.
Colton Scheer batted next and delivered a three-RBI double, pushing Post 154's lead to seven runs. It needed one more to end the game by run rule and Tucker Storjohann produced it with an RBI single. Quinnton Foulk, who stepped onto the basepath to run for Scheer, scored the game-ender.
Storjohann then produced mightily at the plate Saturday against Auburn. During the 10-5 victory, he went 3-for-4 with a double and two singles.
Blair started the game behind 4-0, but pulled ahead 7-5 with a six-run top of the fourth frame.
