The Blair girls basketball team hung with Harlan, Iowa, for 8 minutes Tuesday night.
But, in the end, the Bears (6-5 overall) suffered their fifth loss in six games. The Cyclones beat coach Matt Aschoff's team at BHS, 57-33.
Starting in place of the injured Addie Sullivan, senior Marin Sather scored the game's first points from long range, giving Blair an early 3-0 lead. She scored the Bears' fourth point, too, but the home squad already trailed 5-4.
Joslyn Policky and Claire Anderson added first-period buckets as well, while freshman Kaitlyn O'Neil hit two free throws, but Harlan still led after one quarter, 19-13. From there, the visiting Cyclones outscored Aschoff's team 16-4 during the second period and 20-2 in the the third.
Blair then managed a 14-2 fourth quarter, but it was too little, too late. The Bears were 1-1 at home through Tuesday, but were set to face unbeaten Class B No. 1 Crete on Thursday before a Saturday matchup at Class C1 No. 3 Wahoo.
BHS is 1-5 against teams with winning records this season.
