The Blair girls wrestling team finished 18th out of 32 scoring teams Saturday during the Council Bluffs Wrestling Classic at the Mid-America Center.
The Bears combined for 21 contested victories and 147 team points across two days of competition, while first-place Washburn (Kan.) won the team title with 648 points.
Four BHS wrestlers earned top-10 finishes with Madi James taking sixth at 145 pounds. The grappler was 3-4 overall with three pins. Her fastest against Lilly Mott of Mill Valley (Kan.) took just 19 seconds.
Savanah Roan, meanwhile, earned eighth with her own 3-4 mark. The 130-pounder was seeded 20th to start and was the only Bear to win her first match of the tournament, overpowering Sierra Wieland of the CBCSD Co-Op (Iowa) for a 9-3 decision.
Blair's Lizzy Flynn was 0-4 but took eighth at 190 pounds in Council Bluffs, while Jaysie Garcia-Abalos went 4-3 and finished 10th at 155. Garcia-Abalos won four contested matches in a row before dropping her ninth-place bout by third-period pin.
Josie Tilson won her ninth-place match with Raccoon River's Kelsey Greenslade, 16-12, capping a 3-4 tournament at 110 pounds. She notched a pair of pins, too.
The winningest Blair wrestler of the tourney was Alison Wheeler, who went 5-4 at 120 pounds. She took 12th, securing five pins across two days. Her fastest pin — 13 seconds against Natalia Gentiluomo of Iowa City West — was the Bears' quickest of the event, too.
Shelby Kain, meanwhile, finished 18th at 170 pounds. She went 0-for-5, while Jo Inget was 3-6 for 21st at 140 pounds. Inget scored two first-period pins, but also one during the second round of her first consolation round match.
Overall, BHS earned 19 pins during the event. The Bears next compete 6 p.m. today at Columbus Lakeview.
