Both the Blair and Fort Calhoun Junior Legion baseball teams capped their regular season schedules Monday evening.
Post 154 earned an 8-7 win on turf at Omaha Creighton Prep, while the Zig Drywall Post 348 squad lost an 11-1 home game on dirt to Springfield. The teams will meet 5 p.m. today during the opening round of the Class B Area 2 Tournament in Plattsmouth.

Blair beats The Birds
Originally set two play two games at Creighton Prep on Monday, the Blair Juniors settled for one against The Birds JV2, securing an 8-7 victory.
Coach Sean Munger's squad led by as many as five runs during the game and held off the opposition's late rally. It enters postseason play 11-8 overall, according to its GameChanger stat-keeping program.
Blair jumped out to a 3-0 lead during the first inning of its game with The Birds. Jaxon Logan scored first on an error before Parker Jennings' RBI double gave the visitors a two-run advantage.
Post 154's Ike Petersen singled next, pushing the lead out to three runs.
Coach Munger's team scored again during the top of the fourth frame before it secured its biggest lead, 6-1, during the fifth. The Birds later pulled within 6-5 before both teams scored two runs apiece during the final inning.

Calhoun falls by 10
A seven-run top of the fourth inning created space on the scoreboard between Springfield and the Zig Drywall Post 348 Juniors on Monday. The frame pushed the road squad's lead from three runs to 10 before it hit 11-0 during an 11-1 win.
Fort Calhoun finally scored its first and only run during the bottom of the fifth inning when Rocco Ruma's single scored Danny Pawol. Back-to-back bases-loaded strikeouts ended the game by run-rule from there.
Post 348 enters postseason play 7-15-1 overall, according to GameChanger.

Arlington Juniors start postseason, too
While Blair and Fort Calhoun are set to open postseason play against each other in Plattsmouth, the Arlington Junior Legion baseball team competes during the Class B Area 4 Tournament in Wahoo this weekend. Post 71 plays Seward 1 p.m. today at Sam Crawford Field.
Area Tournaments continue through the weekend and are set to conclude by the end of Tuesday, weather permitting.
