Blair boys wrestling takes 15th in Urbandale

Brown notches 100th career victory

The Blair boys wrestling team faced stiff competition Saturday in Urbandale, Iowa, finishing 15th out of 21 teams during the Ed Winger Classic.
Four Bears earned top-six finishes, including senior Tyson Brown, who secured his 100th career victory during the tournament. He was 3-2 overall Saturday, securing two technical falls and a 3-1 sudden victory against 28-5 Ames wrestler Jabari Hinson.
BHS' Atticus Dick and Blaise Baughman secured three wins apiece in Iowa, too. Dick was 3-2 at 150 pounds for fifth, claiming his last match by medical forfeit. The senior also won matches by 10-2 and 13-5 major decisions.
Baughman, however, had a major decision win and two decisions. The Bear won his fifth-place match against Waukee Northwest's Bryce Williams by a score of 8-5.
Tannon Bellamy added a sixth-place Ed Winger finish, too. He was 2-3 at 106 pounds for BHS, securing major decisions against Urbandale's Landon Vue and Hudson Fleming of Bettendorf.
Bears Jaxon Logan, Thomas Chikos, Griffin Rosterman, Cornez Tucker Jr. and Mac Tupa finished shy of spots on the podium, but they did all secure pins for coach Erich Warner's squad. The team next competes Friday when it hosts Elkhorn South for a dual. The Senior Night matchup starts at 5 p.m.
