The Blair boys basketball team's losing streak reached six Thursday before the Bears snapped it Friday in the regular season finale.
The Bears lost to Omaha Roncalli 44-25 before besting Crete 54-46.
Coach Chris Whitwer's team then turned around and was expected to play its postseason opener Monday at Bennington High School. BHS was scheduled to play Schuyler during the first round of the Class B Subdistrict 5 Tournament, and results can be found online at enterprisepub.com/sports.
At Roncalli, Whitwer's squad started strong. Senior Cade Ulven scored a bucket inside the 3-point line and then one from outside it before Wyatt Ogle's baseline jumper gave the Bears a 7-0 lead.
From there, though, Blair scored just 18 more points, including 15 over the final three quarters. Ulven led the Bears with seven points, while both Ogle and Luke Ladwig notched six.
The Pride (12-8), meanwhile, won their 12th game with Quincy Evans totaling a game-high 12 points.
A day later, though, BHS won its eighth game of the 2020-2021 campaign. Ladwig scored a game-high 16 points at Crete with two makes from beyond the 3-point line. Kip Tupa added 14 points and Jacob Czapla had seven..
The Bears led 41-31 through three quarters thanks to a 20-point third period. They then finished off the win with 11 made free throws during the fourth, breaking a losing streak dating back to Jan. 15.
