Boys, girls pick up convincing victories

The Blair varsity basketball teams swept a pair of games at Schuyler on Tuesday, combining to outscore the Warriors 121-25.
The Bears' girls team is 5-1 this season, while the boys are 3-2 after their latest victory.

BHS girls win by 43
The BHS girls didn't allow a single point until after halftime Tuesday, besting Schuyler 51-8.
Coach Matt Aschoff's team led 15-0 after one period, 39-0 at halftime and by 43 at the sound of the final buzzer.
Sophomore Bear Addie Sullivan hit three 3-pointers during the game, finishing with a team-best 14 points overall. Hayden Frink-Mathis added eight points — matching the Warriors' total — while Sophia Wrich had seven in her return to the lineup post-injury.
Allison Vavricek, meanwhile, scored four points for Schuyler, which fell to 0-5 in defeat.
Blair next plays Saturday against Omaha Gross. The home game starts at 4 p.m.

Blair boys score 70 in rout
The BHS boys tied their season-high scoring output Tuesday, dominating at Schuyler, 70-17.
The Bears held the Warriors (0-5 overall) without a bucket during the first period and led 38-5 at halftime. The lead bloomed to 53-14 through three quarters before coach Chris Whitwer's team won by its widest margin of the young season — 53 points.
Freshman Bo Meier led Blair in scoring with 16, shooting 4-for-6 from the foul line. Greyson Kay hit a free throw during his 11-point effort, too, while Nolan Slominski scored 10 without a make from the foul line.
The Bears next play tonight during the first round of the four-team Cougar Classic Tournament at Omaha Gross. The game against Platteview starts at 6 p.m. with the winner set to play 7:45 p.m. Saturday in the championship game. The losing team, meanwhile, will play at 6 p.m. Saturday.
