The Arlington and Blair Swim Teams recently closed out their summers seasons Saturday during the East Husker Conference Championships in Wayne.
Both squads earned top individual finishes, capping a season filled with laps back-and-forth in the pool.
Blair's Chrans claims top results
Blair coach Ayden Dick was pleased with her team's conference showing.
“It went great,” she said.
Isabel Chrans led the way, securing four top-five finishes including a win in the ages 9-10 25-yard breaststroke. She also took second in the 25 butterfly and was third in the 25 backstroke.
In the 100-yard IM race, Chrans took fifth.
Blair's Briella Kastrup earned a second-place finish, too. She was second in the ages 9-10 25-yard freestyle, while also sixth in the 25 breaststroke.
Colin Busboom, Maddie Prinds and Brooklyn Ballinger earned spots on the podium, too. Busboom was fifth in the boys' ages 11-12 50 breaststroke, while Prinds was fifth in the girls' age 8 and younger 25-yard butterfly.
Ballinger, meanwhile, was sixth in the 8U 25 freestyle for coach Dick's Blair team.
Blake leads Arlington
The Arlington Swim Team earned second out of seven squads in the small-team division Saturday.
“It was hot and the competition was very tough,” coach John Morrison said of the Wayne meet.
Alex Blake led his 13-swimmer Arlington lineup with three wins across his four individual events. He scored 38 team points and took home the age 8 and younger boys high-point trophy.
“We saw a lot of personal bests today for a lot of our kids, which is what you hope for at this meet,” Morrison said.
Brileigh Elliott, for example, won the age 8 and younger backstroke, while also claiming fifth in the breaststroke. Dominic and Miranda Morrison claimed multiple top-six finishes in the ages 11-12 division, too, according to their coach.
Arlington's Tristan Schakat was a top-six finisher in each of his age 9-10 events, too, while Taevyn Elliot was fourth and fifth in two individual age 13-14 events.
“Marissa Blake, Abby Schakat, Teagan Reed, Rownan Reed, Isaac Hansen, Paxley Johnston and Brandt Ruskamp all earned top-six finishes and contributed big time to the team success today,” Morrison added.
