BHS tennis sweeps SSC

Bears win all 5 scored matches

Coach David Christensen's Blair High School tennis team earned a road sweep Thursday evening.
The Bears bested the South Sioux City Cardinals, 5-0, in scored varsity matches. With the victory, they improved to 2-1 in duals this season.
Abi Lundberg won her No. 1 singles match 8-5, while Fiene Bakker secured an 8-2 victory in No. 2 singles. Roslyn Solano added to the singles sweep with an 8-3 win at No. 3.
The BHS teams of Abby Leggott and Ally Sullivan, and Leah Chance and Shelby Wolff, were victorious, too. Leggott and Sullivan won their No. 1 matchup 8-6, while Chance and Wolff secured an 8-1 doubles victory.
In addition to the scored varsity wins, the Bears picked up two additional victories in South Sioux City. The team of Lundberg and Bakker earned an 8-2 win, while Kylie Harvey picked up an 8-3 singles victory.
Coach Christensen's team was scheduled to return to the court Monday at Ralston and next competes in varsity play Thursday at Fremont. The reserve Bears, however, host Platteview today at 4 p.m.
