The Blair High School tennis team competed in seemingly ideal April weather conditions Friday during a Ralston quadrangular.
Under a sunny sky and with little wind, coach David Christensen's Bears went 1-2 in duals against Crete, Platteview and the host Rams. They took two doubles matches and a singles win against the Cardinals, winning 3-2 overall.
Roslyn Solano delivered the singles victory — BHS' only one of the day — 6-4, 6-4. The No. 2 players' No. 1 doubles teammates, Ally Sullivan and Abby Leggott, won, too, 6-3 and 6-4.
The Bears' Kayleia Chesson and Hannah Gross won at No. 2 doubles as well, earning multiple tiebreakers to defeat the Crete pairing they played across the net from.
Chesson and Gross won a 6-2, 6-2 match during the 3-2 overall loss to Platteview, too. Blair's No. 3 doubles team — Kenzie Policky and Andi Hume — beat a pair of Trojans, 6-3 and 7-5, but the Bears needed one more win to take the dual.
Hume and Policky were the only Bears to earn wins during a 4-1 loss to Ralston, too. They secured it 6-1, 6-2.
Notably, Angela Roehrs toughed out a sore leg to play three No. 1 singles matches for BHS during the quad.

Bears fall at Fremont
BHS fell short of a match victory altogether Thursday in Fremont.
The Tigers won 5-0, sweeping both the doubles and singles matchups.
“It was rough,” Christensen said. “Didn't win a match, but some were pretty close.”
The Bears were scheduled to play Monday at home against Norris and will next compete 4 p.m. Thursday against Bennington at Elkhorn Mount Michael, according to Blair's activities calendar.
