The Class B No. 5 Blair girls soccer team responded to its first loss of the season with a clean sheet Thursday against No. 7 Bennington.
Days after No. 1 Gretna East squeezed by the Bears by a single goal, coach Nick Hall's squad topped the Badgers at Krantz Field by three, 3-0. The win pushed its season record to 10-1, while the Badgers dropped to 7-4.
Freshman Cadence Field scored BHS' first goal during the first half before senior Brynn Ray and she added one apiece during the second 40 minutes. Kaitlynn O'Neil assisted Ray, while Beau Wendt got the ball to Field for the Bears' third goal of the Eastern Midlands Conference (EMC) regular season match.
Keeper Brooklyn Schroeter, meanwhile, earned the victory in net. The shutout was her eighth of the season.
The home win secured Blair's second-straight double-digit win season and third in the past five. With one more victory, the Bears will match last season's 11-win effort — their school's winningest campaign since 2013.
Coach Hall's squad was scheduled to open EMC Tournament play Monday against Elkhorn. The conference championship game — as well as the third-place match — are set for Wednesday. Start times and locations are to be determined.
