The Lincoln Northwest boys soccer team was good enough to be beat Ralston on Friday, 1-0, but it couldn't top Blair in coach Peter Massa's first game Saturday morning.
The Bears broke a 1-1 tie on the road during the first half and won, 5-1. They were scheduled to host Waverly on Monday at Krantz Field and next play The Platte at Platteview on Thursday.
First, though, BHS won Massa's debut match with three goals from Drew Wulf and two more from Victor Hernandez. Hernandez assisted Wulf — who also successfully converted a penalty kick during the match — on the first score of the game, too.
The Bears' new coach was complimentary of his team afterward.
“The boys played very well,” he said. “We played our game as we practiced.”
Thursday's varsity road match at Platteview starts at 7 p.m. The junior varsity game begins at 5:30.
