The Blair High School baseball team fell to 4-13 Saturday as Class B No. 10 Hastings claimed on no-hitter.
According to the Tigers' stat-keeping, the home team produced a 13-0 advantage in hits during a 13-0 victory. HHS improved to 9-6 with the win, using an eight-run second inning to springboard into a mercy-rule stoppage after 4.5 innings.
The Eastern Midlands Conference (EMC) loss was the Bears' third in a row after it opened conference tournament play with a 3-1 win against Elkhorn on April 14.
The Bears were scheduled to host Lincoln Standing Bear on Monday and next compete today at Gretna. The Tuesday-night game's first pitch is set for 6:30 p.m.
Nixon hits grand slam in loss
Colton Nixon produced a first-inning grand slam Thursday at Class B No. 5 Gretna East, but his Bears lost their EMC Tournament finale against the Griffins, 7-4.
Nixon plated Nathan Murray, Jackson Livingston and Lucas Matejka with his home run swing during top half of the opening fame, but BHS dropped to 1-2 in tourney play, losing consecutive games to Norris and East after its upset of the aforementioned Antlers.
Brevin Leggott and Murray added their own hits in Thursday's game, while Leggott, Andrew Smutny and Carter Saylor combined for four walks.
BHS' Hudson Hamm pitched the majority of the road contest, striking out three Griffins in 3 2/3 innings.
