The Blair High School baseball team hung with Class B No. 3 Elkhorn North on Tuesday, but it couldn't overcome it.
The Wolves' Crew Eaton plated the game-winning run, singling during the bottom of the seventh frame. The hit broke a 3-3 tie, giving the home team a 4-3 victory.
The Bears (6-17 overall) led 2-1 briefly during the third inning. After a Cam Wilkins contact swing tied the game during the top of the second frame, Nathan Murray plated Nelson Kosch in the third for a one-run lead.
North (13-8) responded, though, quickly regaining the advantage during the bottom half of the inning. BHS pitcher Lucas Matejka and his defense kept the Wolves' lead to that 3-2 minimum until the top of the sixth when the right-hander helped his case. Matejka's RBI swing tied the game again, but the Wolves were the ones to break it for good in walk-off fashion.
Blair was scheduled to start Bellevue Baseball Invite play Thursday before it continues into the weekend. Based on Thursday's results, the Bears will play at 2 or 4:30 p.m. today at Bellevue West before a 10 a.m. or 12:30 p.m. game on Saturday at a to-be-determined location.
