A Thursday night shootout went the Blair boys soccer team's way at Platteview High School.
With Luke Donner in goal and his fellow Bears (2-2 overall) going 4-for-4 from penalty-kick distance, coach Peter Massa's team produced a 3-2 win against The Platte — a team of players from both Platteview and Plattsmouth. Victor Hernandez, Jarred Kros, Tommy Scott and Isaac Field all successfully found the back of the net after two scoreless overtime periods.
Donner, meanwhile, surrendered two goals during the shootout before stopping the next two for the win. The goalkeeper dove to his left and squeezed the first save between his mitts.
The more than 2 hour match was even at 2-2 going into overtime. Hernandez and his BHS teammate, Drew Wulf, netted the game's first two goals during the first half before The Platte cut its deficit in half just before the break.
The home team later evened the score with a little more than 10 minutes to go in regulation, but it was all for not as the Bears improved to 2-1 before Saturday's road trip to Hastings.

Tigers top BHS
In Hastings, Blair was unsuccessful.
The host Tigers scored their first goal during the first half before adding two more in the second. Coach Massa's Bears, meanwhile, were shutout for the second time this season.
BHS was scheduled to host Elkhorn North on Monday and next competes 7 p.m. Thursday against Lincoln Standing Bear at Krantz Field.
