The Council Bluffs Lewis Central boys basketball team took a 51-50 lead Tuesday with 2:32 left during the fourth period at Blair High School.
The hometown Bears, however, scored the next 11 points, earning a 61-51 Senior Night win in celebration of Cooper Sorensen, Easton Bosanek, Alex Just, Nelson Kosch and John McKeon. Coach Chris Whitwer's BHS squad improved to 9-8 with the victory.
It was Sorensen who scored the go-ahead bucket shortly after his team fell behind in the final minutes. He finished the crucial play in the lane, capitalizing on a pass from beyond the 3-point line by Bo Meier.
From there, the Bears' Brevin Leggott made two free throws, Kalan Steinbeck hit a 3-pointer, Meier finished a fast break with a bucket and Sorensen made two more foul shots. The offensive output allowed Whitwer to substitute the rest of his seniors into the game with 14.1 seconds left.
Leggott, a freshman, led Blair with 22 points during the 10-point victory. Steinbeck scored 18 and Sorensen had 11.
Jimmy Scott, meanwhile, led Lewis Central with 16 points in defeat.
The Bears next play 2:30 p.m. Saturday at home against Seward.
