The Blair High School girls soccer team capped off its summer league slate with a second place finish in The Lady Ei8hts High School Tournament on July 23.
Playing at the CHI MultiSport Complex in La Vista, the Bears went 3-1 in tourney competition, falling to Omaha Marian in the championship game, 2-1. Coach Nick Hall's team was 8-1-1 during the regular season, too.
Fresh off of its first state tournament appearance in more than 20 years last spring, BHS participates in offseason play to build continuity between its returning players and the new ones coming up, the coach said.
“It's just a good barometer to where the program is,” Hall added. “We're competing against Class A schools.”
The Bears topped athletes from Millard North, Millard West and Gretna East on its way to The Ei8hts' championship game. Claire Anderson, Beau Wendt, Tilde Hall, Laynie Brown, Cadence Field, Lindsey Moeller and Emmi Hall all scored goals against North. Regan Blattert, who was injured during the 2025 school season, earned the win in goal.
Coach Hall said summer league competition also allows for soccer players to play in different positions on the field.
“There's going to be lots of competition at all of the spots next year,” he noted.
