Through three games, the Blair High School baseball team still seeks its first victory of the 2025 season.
The Bears lost their most recent opportunity on the diamond to Platteview (3-1 overall). The Trojans scored five runs across the first two frames Thursday at Vets Field, securing an 11-4 road win through seven.
BHS, meanwhile, scored one run during the second inning and three more during the fourth. First, coach John Roan's team capitalized on Lucas Matejka's leadoff double in the second. Hans Sorensen later grounded out, plating his teammate to pull the Bears within 5-1.
Trailing 8-1 during the bottom half of the fourth inning, though, Blair put together a two-out rally to pull within four runs. Jakob Gaskill, Jackson Livingston and Nelson Kosch all walked before Carter Saylor was hit by a pitch for a run. Owen Mann scored it, filling in for Gaskill on the basepath.
Next up, Bears freshman Brevin Leggott hit a single, scoring two more runs. The effort gave Coach Roan's squad a chance, but it couldn't put together anymore scores during its third loss of the spring.
BHS was scheduled to play Elkhorn in a makeup game Monday and next faces the Gross Cougars today in Omaha. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m.
