A week before a Eastern Cornhusker Trapshooting Conference (ECTC) shoot at home, the Blair Youth Shooting Sports' Junior Division deadeyes aimed shotguns in Papillion last Saturday.
The Blair Gold team finished first with Jaydyn Backman leading the way. She was the first-place female shooter and finished within the top-four overall.
Backman fired on and hit 47 of the 50 clay pigeons she targeted, leading a 203-target team effort. Colton Nixon was 43-for-50, too, while Jager Leichleiter (39), Johnny Henton (38) and Tregan Baker (36) also contributed to the first-place finish.
BYSS' Revlyn Rasmussen added a 40-for-50 showing, while Evan Brodersen took out 36 targets.
This Saturday, the Blair Juniors will compete at home. The ECTC event starts at 8 a.m.
This Saturday's Senior Division shoot, meanwhile, is at Valley Trap Range. First, though, BYSS competed last weekend in Ashland.
Jacob Vanek, Evie Hearn and Kalvin Kies earned their team's top finishes. Vanek was first in the 24-25-yard handicap category, hitting 46 of his 50 targets, while Kies was the second-place finisher in the handicap shoot overall. He hit 46 targets in Ashland, too, while Hearn blasted 41 to place as the second-best female handicap shooter on the day.
Vanek was Blair's high overall shooter, shooting 93-for-100. Kies (90), Dalton Nielsen (86), Triston Clausen (86) and Wyatt Blackford (85) followed.
