Arlington volleyball closes regular season 7-21

Eagles drop 3-set match at Syracuse

The Arlington High School volleyball team lost the final match of its regular season schedule Tuesday at Syracuse.
The Rockets won the Nebraska Capitol Conference matchup, 3-0. They claimedthe first set 30-28, the second 25-12 and the third 25-16.
Though the Eagles fell to 7-21 in defeat, they nearly started the match with a 1-0 lead. Coach Erin Stosich's team trailed the opening set 22-19, but battled back.
Junior Macy Wolf scored AHS' 20th point of the first race to 25 with a kill off of a Syracuse block. She later tied it at 22-all with a another, too.
The Eagles and Rockets battled back-and-forth from there with Stosich's lineup notching one lead — 25-24. Kaylie Herman and Hayley Arp went up together on a block and succeeded there, but their team couldn't close out the set.
Instead, ties came together at 25-25, 26-26, 27-27 and 28-28 before Syracuse finally took the 1-0 advantage with a two-point set victory.
Arlington next competes during the postseason at a Class C1 Subdistrict Tournament. First-round matchups and locations weren't announced as of press time, but play does begin Monday across the state.
