Arlington Eagles set personal bests Thursday at Platteview High School.
The AHS track and field girls earned five gold medals and finished second overall to Hastings, while coach Tyler Spitser's boys won three and took fifth. The Eagles combined for 150 total team points.
Senior Keelianne Green led the girls' runner-up effort with two first-place finishes, while Hailey O'Daniel and Taylor Arp earned one apiece. O'Daniel's 1,600-meter run win took 5:29.3, a career best time.
Arp, meanwhile, covered 130 feet, 4 inches in the discus, setting her own personal record. The throw also stands as Arlington's seventh-best effort in recorded school history.
Green's championship 800 time — 2:21.29 — was a season best, while she also covered 17-2.5 with her gold-medal-winning long jump attempt.
Additionally, the AHS 1,600 relay team of Whitney Wollberg, O'Daniel, Emme Timm and Green won their race in 4:18.7. Wollberg didn't win the pole vault, but her silver-medal showing — 8 feet, 6 inches — is notably third on the Eagles' all-time standings.
Trent Koger and Dallin Franzluebbers set personal records on the boys' side, too. Koger's 39-9.5 triple jump attempt claimed an Arlington first-place finish as did Franzluebbers' 2:05.67 time in the 800-meter run.
Kevin Flesner, Luke Hammang, John Morrison and Nolan May won gold medals, too, finishing the 3,200 relay race in 8:51.66.
AHS senior Kyle Quinn added a second-place finish in the discus, recording a personal best. His finest attempt traveled 141-3.
Quinn's Eagles next compete 2 p.m. today at Columbus Lakeview before they host the Nebraska Capitol Conference meet 10 a.m. Saturday.
