AREA TOURNEY UPDATE: Blair Juniors earn Class B state trip

Posted

The Blair Junior Legion baseball team dispatched Nebraska City on Tuesday night, 9-4, winning the Class B Area 2 Tournament and qualifying for state.
Coach Sean Munger’s Post 154 lineup next plays Saturday in Gering.
First, though, it had to beat Nebraska City in Plattsmouth for the second time in three days. Though Blair fell behind 3-0 through one inning Tuesday, it tied the score back up during the second with Parker Jennings’ RBI single into left-centerfield.
Now 3-3, Post 154 took control of the game with a six-run bottom of the third frame. Landon Bernasek scored the go-ahead run when Lane Christensen hit into an error. Plate appearances by Easton Kosch, Jennings and Jaxon Logan resulted in runs from there, too.
Blair pitcher Barrett Brown and his team held the lead. The starter totaled 106 pitches before Tucker Storjohann relieved him during the seventh frame.
Altogether, Coach Munger’s team was 4-0 during Area Tournament play, outscoring its opposition 44-21.
