AHS runner wins UNK XC Invite race ahead of 203

Eagles, Blair and Fort Calhoun all compete in Kearney

More than 1,500 runners competed Monday during the University of Nebraska-Kearney High School Cross-Country Invite.
Of those competitors, just eight won races across 5 kilometers. Arlington senior Hailey O'Daniel was one as the Eagles, Blair Bears and Fort Calhoun Pioneers all participated.

AHS girls claim 7th
Led by O'Daniel, coach Michaela Curran's AHS girls took seventh overall as a team in Class C.
The Eagles' leader finished well ahead of the next runner in 19:53.04, topping her 2023 state meet time on the same course by more than a minute. The multiple-time medalist was seventh to cap her junior campaign.
Arlington's Kolby Tighe, meanwhile, led the boys team to a 13th-place result with his fifth-place finish. The senior finished the Kearney Country Club course in 17:18.5.
Other top-100 finishers for the Eagles included Corinne May (18th), John Morrison (40th), Kelise Krivohlavek (80th), Brayden Fuchs (88th) and Whitney Wollberg (91st).

BHS girls secure 8th
Coach Carson Norine's Blair girls earned a top-10 finish Monday in Kearney, too.
The Bears secured eighth in Class B with Jade Wickwire leading the team in 26th. She clocked in at 21:30.8, while Kate Wulf earned 43rd, Ryen Anderson was 56th and Nadia Davey took 57th. Emma Hines and Ryleigh Schroeter were 67th and 71st, too.
On the boys' side, Norine's team earned 19th. Declan McCabe was 61st in 18:45.5, while Roland Barondeau was 98th.

FCHS boys take 9th
Coach Kyle McMahon's Fort Calhoun boys took ninth in Class C as well.
Consistent frontrunner Seth Waters led the way, securing 21st in 18:07.9. Merritt Olberding added a 27th-place result in 18:20.8, while Will Dennis (53rd), Brayden Bessey (60th), Matthew Kelly (61st) and Sean Waters also claimed top-100 results.
The FCHS girls, meanwhile, claimed 16th in Class C. Raeann Massey led the Pioneers, securing a 52nd-place finish in 22:58.2, while Lauren Lammers was 59th in 23:16.7.
Annaleigh McLaughlin (78th) and Emma Ochoa Gomez (92nd) also helped Calhoun's cause with top-100 results.
