Days after a regular season loss to Logan View/Scribner-Snyder, the Arlington boys basketball team beat the Raiders during the first round of the Nebraska Capitol Conference (NCC) Tournament in Louisville.
Desmond Cole scored a team-best 13 points as the Eagles (4-10 overall) won, 54-45.
“We did a much better job of getting the ball inside off ball reversals,” AHS coach Tyler Spitser said. “Our bigs did a nice job finishing around the rim.”
Post players Weston Wollberg and Trent Koger combined for 21 points with Wollberg, a senior, scoring 12. Kieryn Grothe and Oliver Ladehoff added seven apiece, and Darren Olson had six points, too.
Aaron Fitzke led Logan View with 21 points. His team improved to 4-9 with a 34-31 win against Arlington on Jan. 17, but dropped to 4-10 Saturday.
The Eagles advanced in NCC Tourney play with the win. They were to play top-seeded Ashland-Greenwood on Monday with those results set to appear in Friday's Washington County Enterprise newspaper.
