AHS girls win 1st wrestling dual, boys fall

Eagles combine for 8 match wins at Elkhorn

The Arlington girls wrestling team won the first dual in program history Tuesday at Elkhorn.
The Eagle boys fell to the Antlers 45-35, but the girls earned a 30-24 victory with three contested wins on the mat. Kelise Krivohlavek, Carly Segebart and Caitlyn Camp all pinned their opponents.
Krivohlavek's 125-pound match with Natalie Hecht lasted until the fall at 3:31, while Segebart took 2:42 to beat Kylie Painter. Camp pinned Antler Annabella Phillips with just 31 seconds left in the third period of their 170-pound match, too.
AHS' Avalon Wright and Jaydin Allen claimed six valuable team points apiece by forfeit as well, propelling the Eagles to the win.
Jake Flesner picked up a forfeit in the boys' dual with Elkhorn, while Trey Hill, Aiden McDuffee, Jack Blake, Kolton Gilmore and Tate Johannes won contested matches. Overall, the Eagles were 5-1 in contested matches despite their overall loss.
Hill pinned his 120-pound opponent in 5:05, while McDuffee (126 pounds) and Blake (132) took 2:56 and 1:53 to stop their own opponents by fall. Gilmore won by tech fall at 160 pounds as well and Tate Johannes claimed a pin at 182.
The Arlington girls next compete 4 p.m. today at the Wahoo Invitational, while the boys next wrestle Saturday at Kearney Catholic. The boys' matches begin at 9 a.m.
