AHS girls beat DC West by 9, boys drop home

The Arlington girls basketball team broke a 29-29 tie with a 21-12 fourth period Tuesday night.
The Eagles' 50-41 victory against Douglas County West boosted their season record to 2-2. Coach Luke Brenn refused to pick a single standout from the win.
“... each player that got on the floor did their job tonight,” he said. “So, the 'MVP' goes to the team.”
Taylor Arp scored all of her nine points during the final quarter, while Britt Nielsen and Emme Timm tied for the team-high with 13 apiece. Macy Wolf added seven AHS points, too.
The Falcons' Grace Holm, meanwhile, scored a game-high 15 points in defeat.
The Eagles next compete 3 p.m. Saturday at Tekamah-Herman.

Falcons top AHS boys by 18
Darren Olson scored a team-high 15 points Tuesday, but the Arlington Eagles fell to Douglas County West, 44-26.
The AHS boys dropped to 1-4 with the home loss, while the Falcons moved to 3-1. The Eagles were playing their first game since besting Omaha Brownell-Talbot on Saturday.
Olson knocked down three 3-pointers during his Eagle-best scoring effort. Kieryn Grothe made one from long range, too, while Weston Wollberg had four points.
DC West's Parker Gaston scored a game-high 22 for the victors, while Drake Travis added 11.
AHS next competes 4:30 p.m. Saturday at Tekamah-Herman.
