The Arlington boys wrestling team went 4-1 in duals Saturday, claiming third during the 10-team Kearney Catholic Invitational.
Coach Doug Hart's Eagles topped Gibbon (42-35), York (60-23), Adams Central (39-37) and Wilber-Clatonia (40-33). Their lone loss came to second-place St. Paul, 54-21.
Returning state qualifier Braxton Soll returned from injury to make his season debut in Kearney, going 3-0 in contested matches at 126 and 132 pounds. He earned all three wins by pin.
Three more AHS wrestlers went 4-1 during the dual tournament. Heavyweight Zane Gerrish had, arguably, the best day of his high school wrestling career with two pins, a 13-1 major decision and 5-3 decision against Adams Central's Hudson Treffer.
Tate Johannes, meanwhile, went 4-1 at 190 pounds with four pins. Three of the early finishes look less than 60 seconds.
At 175 pounds, Stokely Lewis secured two pins, a 17-8 major decision and a 5-4 decision win against Gibbon's Juan Rodriguez. His lone loss came against St. Paul's Alex Meinecke.
Cameron Hancock (3-1), Ben Flesner (3-2), Jake Flesner (3-2) and Tanner Kyllo (3-2) added three wins apiece in Coach Hart's lineup, too. The Eagles' Hadyn Hegemann (1-2) added a victory at 113 pounds as well.
After a long break, Arlington returns to the mat Jan. 9 during an Oakland-Craig triangular. It'll face the Knights and Stanton beginning at 6 p.m. before a 2 p.m. Jan. 10 tournament at Ashland-Greenwood.
