The Arlington High School baseball team has scored just two runs across its last seven games.
The Eagles' most-recent struggle came Tuesday as Platte Valley earned an 11-0 victory at the Washington County Fairgrounds. According to statistics posted to maxpreps.com, coach Justin Meyer's squad failed to produce a hit in what was its eighth-straight loss.
Patriots pitcher Nolan Roberts threw all seven innings, allowing four walks, but also striking out four AHS batters. The Eagles' Luke Ott, Tim Halley, Tanner Kyllo and Peyton Marfisi drew free bases on balls, but none delivered a hit.
Defensively, Arlington pitcher Wes Monke threw 5 1/3 innings, allowing just three earned runs on six hits before Platte Valley closed out the game with a six-run seventh frame. He struck out two batters.
The Eagles next play in Wahoo today at 4:30 p.m. Saturday's home game with Louisville starts at 12:30 p.m.
Platteview edges Eagles
On Monday in Springfield, AHS pitcher Liam Shearer held Platteview to just two hits across six innings. The freshman struck out two batters and allowed just three runs for the game.
Unfortunately for the Eagles, Trojans pitchers Bryson Banks and Seamus Ryley held their guests to just one hit during a 3-0 victory. The loss was Arlington's 12th of the season and fifth by three runs or fewer.
Luke Sharp notched the Eagles lone hit, a double, while Burke Quinn and Ott drew walks in defeat.
AHS drops walk-off
Lincoln Lutheran scored the game-winning run during the bottom of the seventh inning Saturday, besting Arlington, 3-2.
The walk-off loss dropped the Eagles' season record to 5-11, while the host Warriors improved to 8-8.
Marfisi and Sharp plated AHS runs, but Coach Meyer's squad was bested 11-6 in hits for the game. Marfisi was 3-for-3, while Halley was 2-for-4 with a double.
On the mound, Arlington's Jackson Stosich struck out five batters across 5 2/3 innings. Marfisi struck out one batter in relief.
