This week’s Nannen Physical Therapy Athletes of the Week competed on the track, the diamond and over the pole vault bar.
They are Corinne May, Andrew Korth and Afton Byelick.
Corinne May, Arlington track and field: The freshman won two Nebraska Capitol Conference Meet events Saturday. She finished the 1,600-meter run in 5:44.36 and the 3,200 race in 12:37.65. Special mention goes to her track and field teammate, Hayley Arp — another two-event winner — and baseball player Luke Ott, who plated the first and last runs of the Eagles’ baseball win Saturday afternoon.
Andrew Korth, Blair baseball: The Bears got multiple contributions across its roster during Friday’s win against Lincoln Southeast, but only this slugger hit a grand slam home run. The dinger pushed BHS’ lead from 3-2 to 7-2 during the Bellevue Baseball Invitational. Special mention goes to Chase Cottle, who earned a personal record and event win in the high jump during the Mike Lehl Invitational.
Afton Byelick, Fort Calhoun track and field: The pole vaulter cleared 10 feet, 6 inches, during the aforementioned NCC meet, breaking her own school record and the previous conference meet mark. Special mention goes to Michael Mason and Matthew Kelly for earning two event wins apiece.
Thanks for ready everyone. Have a good week.
