The weather slowed the start of spring down, but we’re now going full bore with Kenny Wellwood, Cadence Field and Luke Sharp, seemingly, in midseason form.
They, as you may have guessed, are the Nannen Physical Therapy Athletes of the Week.

Kenny Wellwood, Fort Calhoun baseball: The Class C No. 10 Pioneers are off to a 3-1 start and this senior is a big reason why. Through one week, the standout is batting .667 with six hits and four RBIs. He pitched four innings, logging seven strikeouts, too. Special mention, meanwhile, goes to Wellwood’s teammate — Sam Genoways — as well as the track team’s Kaylee Taylor, who won a couple of events Friday at the College of Saint Mary in Omaha.

Cadence Field, Blair soccer: The freshman is off to stellar start. Through four high school matches, she has 10 goals, including eight this past week. To solidify her Athlete of the Week standing, she’s coming off of back-to-back hat tricks. Now, there’s a whole lot of special mention to hand out to BHS athletes. Laynie Brown and goalkeeper Brooklyn Schroeter are off to strong soccer starts for the 4-0 Blair girls, too, while the boys’ Luke Donner earned a shootout win in goal this past week. Track and field athlete Hayden Daggett won a couple of events in Omaha, too, while Brynn Lundgren earned another sprint win as well. Don’t forget Angela Roehrs' two singles wins for the tennis team either.

Luke Sharp, Arlington baseball: Welcome to the spring season, AHS. This baseball player is the Eagles’ first Athlete of the Week after producing seven hits and seven RBIs during a 3-1 week. He had a six-RBI game, you know. Special mention, meanwhile, goes to baseball players Peyton Marfisi and Tim Halley (way to steal home, Tim) as well as Hayley Arp, who won the shot put event in Omaha.

That’s it for this week. Thanks for reading.
