Dathan Hansen, Kalan Steinbeck and Raeann Massey have done it.
The three Washington County athletes have broken the wrestling stranglehold on the Nannen Physical Therapy Athletes of the Week feature. Congratulations, and please read on.
Dathan Hansen, Fremont swimming: The Arlington Tiger celebrated his Senior Night dual with a second-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle, but also three first-place relay team finishes alongside his fellow Fremont swimmers. Special mention goes to Nebraska Capitol Conference (NCC) wrestling champions Kelise Krivohlavek and Dianna Flores as well as basketball standout Schuyler Logemann, who scored 22 points against Logan View/Scribner-Snyder.
Kalan Steinbeck, Blair basketball: A 32-point game for a freshman? Yeah, Steinbeck is the pick after leading his Bears past Harlan with five 3-pointers. He had 11 points against Crete, too. Special mention goes to Kate Wulf, who scored 21 points and made seven 3-pointers against Harlan in defeat, as well as Hudson Loges, who earned his 150th career wrestling victory.
Raeann Massey, Fort Calhoun basketball: The Pioneers had a 2-0 week and Massey led her squad in scoring, totaling 33 points. She notched 21 against Omaha Brownell-Talbot. Special mention goes to Ansley Elofson, who scored 15 points against Omaha Concordia, and Jaxson Burns, who had 17 points at Brownell-Talbot. I need to mention Beckah Gossman, too, who earned an NCC wrestling title.
As you know I like to type, thanks for reading.
