It is already Part 30 of this school year’s Nannen Physical Therapy Athletes of the Week series.
Where does the time go?
Anyways, Ethan Baessler, Sam Genoways and Whitney Wollberg are keeping this feature fresh with more breakout performances.

Ethan Baessler, Blair track and field: The senior logged his fastest 100-meter dash time of the season — 10.72 seconds — Saturday during the Kansas Relays, claiming fifth in Lawrence. It was a big performance on the big stage. Ethan’s teammate, Reece Ewoldt, of course broke her own school record in the 1,600-meter run like she does, eclipsing 5 minutes for her weekly dose of special recognition here. Another shoutout to golfer Bode Soukup, too, who won the Bear Division of a tournament at River Wilds Golf Club.

Sam Genoways, Fort Calhoun baseball: It was a massive week for FCHS baseball and very difficult to choose who to highlight here. Genoways, though, capped the 3-0 week with a seven-strikeout complete game pitching win. The pitcher was 2-for-4 at the plate against South Sioux City, too. He also had two hits and an RBI against Arlington. Alex Christensen, meanwhile, went 3-for-3 with three RBIs and a pitching win against the Eagles. Congrats to him as well.

Whitney Wollberg, Arlington track and field: The Platteview Invitational’s pole vault champion cleared a bar set a 9 feet, 2 inches, while also earning second in the 400-meter dash. Special recognition goes to Dallin Franzluebbers, who won his 400 dash, too, and was apart of two relay victories.

I appreciate you reading this week’s entry all the way to the end. Make sure you congratulate these student-athletes the next time you see them.
