For the most part, the Nebraska high school baseball and soccer seasons were delayed this spring.
Games scheduled for the first Thursday, Friday and Saturday of the year were all axed by poor weather conditions.
No problem, though.
Arlington’s Tyler Ott, Blair’s Allison Hernandez and Eli Tinkham of Fort Calhoun showed up and showed out when their seasons finally began, earning Nannen & Harte Physical Therapy Athlete of the Week honors. Here’s how:

Tyler Ott, Arlington baseball: The Eagles’ pitcher went 1-1 during the first week of the season, allowing just one earned run through 10 2/3 innings. He struck eight batters, too.

Allison Hernandez, Blair soccer: The Bear scored three goals Saturday in Hastings. The future Newman University Jet leads her 2-1 team with five scores already.

Eli Tinkham, Fort Calhoun baseball: The Pioneer pitcher made of a heck of a debut Friday at Louisville. He threw five innings and allowed three hits, but no runs for the 2-1 FCHS baseball team.

Please tell these athletes congratulations when you see them. Thanks for reading.
