The Norfolk Panthers bested the Fremont High School swimming team Tuesday at the Dillon Family Aquatics Center.
The Norfolk girls won their dual 110-71, while the Panther boys earned a 104.5-74 victory.
Even so, though, two Blair Bears achieved high marks in their home Tigers pool. Both Jacob Hanson and Jane Busboom broke the automatic state-qualifying times in their events.
Hanson, specifically, secured first in the 50-yard freestyle race with a time of 22.53 seconds — more than a full second faster than the second-place swimmer. He also competed on two first-place relay teams during the dual, including the 400 freestyle event alongside Arlington's Dathan Hansen and others.
Busboom, meanwhile, set her state-qualifying time in the 100 backstroke, winning the race in 1:00.35. She bested the next closest competitor by nearly 8 seconds, while also contributing to a first-place 200 freestyle relay team alongside fellow BHS student-athletes Ryleigh Schroeter and Kennedy Zehner as well as Alexis Rasmussen.
Schroeter secured first in the 100 butterfly, too.
Hansen, notably, secured his own individual first in the 100-yard breaststroke, finishing the race in 1:15.45.
Blair swimmers Hannah Huenink (second in the 200 medley relay), LeLah Filows (third in the 400 freestyle relay) and Mason Lau (second in the 200 freestyle relay) also secured top finishes across their event swims. Eli Hansen of Arlington claimed third in diving during the Norfolk dual, too.
Notably, Fremont's Elliot Vech broke his own school record in the 100-yard backstroke as well. He finished the race in 53.83 — a third state-qualifying time.
Fremont next competes 4:30 p.m. Dec. 17 at Millard South against the AquaPats.
