14 teams play in annual Vollerama tourney

AHS' FBLA raises money for good causes

Laughter was not uncommon Tuesday during the annual Vollerama volleyball tournament at Arlington High School.
The Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) event joins non-volleyball players with some actual volleyball players in play to benefit the March of Dimes, a nonprofit organization which works toward better health of mothers and infants, and the Nebraska FBLA Foundation.
Adviser Shawna Koger said schools' FBLA groups have been asked to donate to the Alzheimer's Association this year, too.
To serve these purposes, 14 Vollerama teams signed up for the Arlington tourney — a two-team increase from 2023. Koger said it's a usual amount of participation in relation to recent years, post-COVID.
Of the 14 teams, seven participated in the grades 7-9 division. The rest competed in the high school and adult division, which included a pair of teams of coaches and school staff members.
All ages had plenty to find humorous about Tuesday's play, though. Girls laughed as boys made awkward miscues and boys laughed as they tangled themselves up into the net.
The adults couldn't stay serious for long either as AHS raised money for good causes.
