The Arlington Senior Legion baseball team used three pitchers to get through the first inning Thursday against Omaha Concordia at Orval Smith Field in Ralston.
After a 1-2-3 top half, Post 71 couldn't get out of the frame defensively, surrendering 10 runs during an 11-2 run-rule road loss. The defeat dropped its season record to 4-7 overall.
Concordia scored its first run of the game on a passed ball, its second on an error and its third on a bases-loaded walk. Two more errors led to a 6-0 start before another Arlington passed ball plated the seventh run of the opening inning.
Three more RBI swings later, coach TJ Stosich's Legion team was in a hole it couldn't climb out of offensively. It scored twice during the fourth frame when Liam Shearer touched home plate on a wild pitch and Wes Monke was hit by another with the bases loaded, but it wasn't enough.
Post 71 was scheduled to play Junior and Senior Legion games Sunday in Valparaiso, too, but next competes during the Class B Area Area 4 Junior Legion Tournament in Wahoo. Play begins Friday.
