Oakland-Craig continues in the journey

Students travel Pathways 2 Tomorrow

Oakland-Craig Public Schools is a proud member of the Pathways 2 Tomorrow (P2T) career academies! Through these career and technical education pathways, students are given opportunities to experience a variety of career fields to help them determine a career path that they are interested in pursuing. P2T provides students with access to high-quality education and training programs that are designed to prepare them for the jobs of the future.

Students from Oakland-Craig, Bancroft-Rosalie, Emerson-Hubbard, Guardian Angels Central Catholic, Howells-Dodge, Lyons-Decatur Northeast, Pender, and West Point-Beemer can choose from five different career and technical education pathways including Welding, Health Sciences, Informational Technology, Building and Construction, and Education. Through this program students not only get a feel for the specific career field, they also have the opportunity to earn college credit saving them both time and money in their post-secondary education and training.

Johnna Peterson, a senior at Oakland-Craig, participates in the Pathways 2 Tomorrow program. Johnna states, “Pathways 2 Tomorrow is a program I am very grateful for. I currently participate in the education pathway. It has given me the opportunity to get a head start on my college education, specifically courses that go along with my future major. Not only that, but it has also allowed me to meet people from around the area interested in the same thing I am. We get to cultivate ideas and learn more about the education world as future educators. One of the best things is that education pathway students get to stay in the district on Fridays and observe classrooms. This gives us a chance to see how it's done in the real world.”

An additional benefit of the P2T program includes increased employability as P2T equips individuals with the skills, knowledge, and experience needed to succeed in the workplace. In addition, P2T provides a learning environment that is both innovative and engaging. Students have access to cutting-edge technology, expert instructors, and real-world experiences, all of which contribute to a more fulfilling and enriching learning experience. The opportunities provided by our career pathways also encourage personal growth and community building. By encouraging creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, P2T promotes personal growth and development. P2T also fosters a sense of community and belonging by bringing together individuals from diverse backgrounds and creating supportive and inclusive learning environments through collaboration and teamwork.

Overall, Pathways 2 Tomorrow provides individuals with the tools and resources they need to succeed in a rapidly changing economy. At Oakland-Craig we are extremely grateful for the opportunities the Pathways 2 Tomorrow program offers our students.
